Marrakech – basic information

African exotic is already possible to reach during the weekend stay. In 2005 Morocco abolished the visa requirement, later joined the the open-skies agreement, what caused that cheap airlines appeared right away. We invite you to Marrakech, the most Maroccan form Morrocan cities…

1.The main reason, why it’s worth to come to Marrakech.

The heart of Marrakech is Jemaa el-Fna, the huge square in the town center. In the morning the square is rather empty, but in the evening it becomes a crowded place of fun, shopping, dancing and all kinds of services.

On the Jemaa el-Fna square you can have your tooth removed, tattoo done or you can take a picture with a snake. Man can also enjoy with the popular play catching bottles on the fishing rod either drink fresh orange juice as he wish, rummage among the stands with herbs, mandarins and dates or stare at all this chaos resting in the one of the surrounding cafes.

The strength of the Jemaa elFna has been confirmed by the fact, that when the authorities decided to close the square for fear of subversive gatherings, suddenly  tourists had stopped to come to Marrakech. This city simply do not exist without its crowded square, which comes to life with the nightfall.

 2. How to get here?
The best way is to get there by a plane. There are regular flights from Europe osv. Ryanair, Atlas Blue, Easy Jet, the the cheapest connections are through London. Those, who has more time to spend and would like to try various kind of transport, can take a fly to Malaga, get a bus to Algeciras (2 hours), than ferry to Tanger (1,5 hour) and a train to Marrakech (6 hours). However you should be aware, that Moroccan trains and buses aren’t very punctual.

3. From dusk to down

A little problem appears when comes to accommodation, because the high price doesn’t mean a good quality in Marrakech. Most of the tourists stops at the Ali Hotel Ali at Rue Moulay Ismail. Double room costs 22 EUR, there is a restaurant and exchange office in the hotel, which is located two minutes walk to Jemaa el-Fna square.

Those, who would like to feel the atmosphere of moroccan home, should visit “riad” – house with an internal courtyard. There are almost constantly taking place a wedding parties in Riad Jiddi, so you can visit it, if you don’t want to sleep.
